Depending what you scanvange/mine/grow/fish and sell, the stores in the area will expand the list of things they sell. You have a handful of cute bachlors you can marry (or bachloretts depending on which gender you are). You are given a farm and you have to earn money, expand your farm, buy farm animals, and befriend the villagers. You move to an island where you are given the choice of where you live before you meet the characters.
In Harvest Moon Tree of Tranquility you can play as either a boy or girl (yay!). Reguardless of using the same formula every time, Natsume generally makes winning games!
